A reverberatory holding furnace is used in gravity casting and other high-volume casting operations. They typically are gas fired because of the need for the furnace to melt the aluminium at times required by the production process. This style of furnace is larger compared to other types within the die casting industry and requires cleaning and charging of the metal prior to addition. The area in front of the furnace often suffers abuse. Due to considerations towards energy usage, unwanted reactions, and hydrogen absorption, thermocouple systems are vital to any casting operation. Proper sealing of furnace doors and hoods is necessary to prevent energy loss.

Pyrotek focuses on increasing metal quality and furnace efficiency to improve performance for die casters. Solutions for reverberatory furnaces include immersion heaters, thermocouples, refractory lining, insulation, degassing tubes, filters, dross pans, floor tiles and gaskets and seals.
