Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Gain hands-on Engineering experience and make an impact from day one.

At Pyrotek, we design, engineer, and deliver innovative materials and solutions that help our customers improve their processes and products around the world. As an Engineering/Operations Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to apply what you’re learning in the classroom to real-world engineering projects — collaborating with skilled professionals and contributing to meaningful work that supports our global operations.

🔧 What You’ll Do

As part of our Engineering team, you’ll:

  • Partner with plant leadership and support teams to learn manufacturing processes — from engineering and purchasing to production and distribution.
  • Support ongoing projects by assisting with CAD drawings, 3D modeling in SolidWorks, and creation of equipment manuals and work packages.
  • Learn how to read, interpret, and produce detailed manufacturing drawings and specifications.
  • Create clear and accurate documentation to support production and engineering needs.
  • Present project findings to team members and leadership, gaining valuable professional communication experience.

Qualifications

🎓 What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with at least one year of coursework completed.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD software (bonus if you’ve already used it for class or personal projects!).
  • Strong computer and Excel skills, with a knack for organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and a desire to learn from hands-on experience.

🏭 Work Environment

You’ll primarily work in an office setting with occasional time spent on the production floor — getting a firsthand look at how engineering decisions come to life. Safety is always our top priority, and all necessary PPE is provided.

Must be able to sit for long periods-of-time, bend, and reach, use stairs, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and
communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use a personal computer, office equipment and telephone.

While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, Team Member generally will work in an office environment, with occasional work in an industrial manufacturing environment, where moderate background noise, presence of natural and artificial light, exposure to work temperatures from ambient to controlled, hard walking surfaces for standing and walking, and moderate amounts of airborne graphite dust, are present. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as approved footwear, respirators, safety glasses/goggles, etc., may be required.
