Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shift:  6:30 am - 3:00 pm

The role of the Material Handler is to perform safe and efficient receipt, inspection, movement, storage and delivery of goods throughout the facility. Support operational functions and the goal of ensuring optimal quality and on-time delivery for customers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Safely and efficiently use forklifts to receive incoming deliveries, including counting, weighing, measuring and examining goods to verify deliveries are complete, correct, damage free and dimensionally correct.
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead crane, electric pallet jack and other industrial vehicles to store and deliver materials, parts, supplies, and equipment throughout the plant.
  • Accurately document and perform computerized transactions related to receiving, inspecting, storing, transporting and issuing materials. 
  • Precisely follow written & verbal instruction to pick parts, kit materials, and transport goods throughout the facility.
  • As directed, conduct accurate cycle counts and properly document inventory levels. Escalate issues or discrepancies to supervision.
  • Provide support to shipping department with packaging and pallet building.
  • Continuously maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.  Ensure tools and other items are safely and properly stored.   
  • Regularly perform housekeeping tasks.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) / Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), plus one (1) year in a manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experiences.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Technical Skills.  Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.  Ability to perform mathematical skills in the form of measurement and other work material calculations utilizing a calculator.  Ability to use hoists and various hand and power tools (band/circular saws, scales, foam generating and banding equipment) with precision and dexterity.  Ability to complete NYS Hazmat DOT training.  Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.

Core People Skills.  Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people at all levels of the organization.  Genuine with high ethical standards, values, personal integrity and honesty.  Ability to apply a large measure of common sense to a variety of situations.

Computer/Applications Skills. Possess basic computer skills and the ability to learn/use variety of software applications systems, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).   Ability to operate electronic weight, printing and computing equipment including bar code scanners.

Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, use hands and fingers to handle, feel or grasp. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. occasionally. 

Working Environment

While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, Team Member generally will work in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.  Periodic exposure to outdoor environment through open doors. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as approved footwear, respirators, safety glasses/goggles, may be required.

$20.00-$27.00 / hourly

The minimum and maximum hourly range for this full-time position is $20.00-$27.00 + benefits.   

 Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.  Please note that the compensation details listed in this posted role reflect the base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits.
