Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Order Fulfillment Specialist is responsible for securing transportation for both domestic and international orders.  Support the manufacturing function by receiving orders, picking parts, kitting materials and transporting goods.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm

**Starting wage $21.39 with the potential to earn more based on performance and experience. **

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute plans to load containers and trucks, ensuring proper load distribution.
  • Determine requirements and prepare or complete packing slips, bill of ladings, letter of instructions, NAFTA documentation, invoices, shipper’s export declarations, certificates of compliance, labels, and any other required shipping documentation based on customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Determine crate and pallet configuration for multiple different sized items. Manufacture crates or properly secure products on pallets.
  • Work with trucking companies, third party logistics representatives, and freight forwarders to plan and coordinate product shipment schedules.
  • Arrange and coordinate international shipments and prepare necessary documentation on behalf of exporters.
  • Evaluate computerized reports regarding scheduled shipments to ensure deadlines will be met. When obstacles arise propose solutions and communicate as necessary to expedite and ensure on time delivery.
  • Read and interpret work order information, or follow written or verbal instruction, to determine materials or containers to be moved. 
  • Pick parts, kit materials and transport goods to work site or shipping areas using material handling equipment such as cranes, pallet jacks, forklifts and dollies.
  • Input data, prepare documents, and perform computerized transactions manually, or with the use of barcode scanners, to document movement of inventory to maintain and monitor accurate inventory levels.
  • Perform cycle counts and monitor inventory levels. Resolve cycle count discrepancies by investigating root cause, containing the issue, and putting corrective actions in place.
  • Perform daily Point of Use (POU) material deliveries and ensure proper stocking of POU supplies and materials. 
  • Load and unload materials onto or from trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) / Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), or equivalent combination of education and life experiences. Minimum one (1) to three (3) years experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:  warehousing, shipping, fulfilling daily demand orders, creating shipping documents, transacting inventory, assembling and staging loads, and experience with Microsoft Excel load optimization programs.  Must able to meet NYS DOT licensing qualifications.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Communication Skills. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions.  Ability to read words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to read and understand documents such as work orders, policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

Computer/Applications Skills. Ability to clock into and out of jobs via computer terminals, perform computerized transactions, and use barcode scanners to transact movement of inventory.  Ability to utilize load optimization software, CAD programs, and/or excel.

Core Business Skills. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information.  Ability to work independently and to use resources effectively to “figure it out”.  Ability to read and understand basic drawings and work instructions. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform mathematical skills in the form of measurement and other work material calculations utilizing a calculator.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk, hear, and see.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, and repetitive hand movements to build and move shipping containers.  The team member must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees performing this job must be able to wear protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and a respirator as needed. 

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts such as overhead cranes, vibration and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
