Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the USA Foundry Sales team, the Project Manager is responsible for managing the successful launch of new equipment sales through internal and external customer communication, maintenance and tracking master schedules, tracking and reporting budgets, and supporting implementation of capital equipment projects.  This position enhances the current sales team with leadership in Project Management and providing exceptional customer service and value to our overall sales process.

This is an office-based position that will work closely with the sales team and Pyrotek Mid & Upper-level management teams.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with the Foundry Sales Team to assist in developing the scope and gathering information to properly prepare a proposal for the customer on large capital equipment projects, to include:
    • Establishing strong working relationships with Sales Engineers and Manufacturing Resources (Engineering and Operations) to facilitate healthy and accurate collaboration on quotations.
    • Being a leader in the Capital Equipment Sales Process assisting Sales and Management work through the methodical and consistent evaluation of pricing a large project to the market.
    • Maintaining records and documentation of the sales of capital equipment for debrief meetings once the sales process is complete.
    • Being a resource for the Sales Team for customer visits and quantifying new project opportunities when needed
  • Once a Capital Project is won (customer PO issued) the Project Manager will be responsible to carry the project through the manufacturing and installation phases at the customer, to include:
    • Establishing master timing (Gannt Chart or equivalent PM tool) for review and signoff from both internal team and external customer.
    • Establishing master budget based off final Purchase Order and Manufacturing Costing for review and signoff by internal team.
    • Consistently establishing strong positive working relationships with the customer base to meet or exceed their expectations.
    • Regularly and effectively visiting customers at their facilities for the purpose of selling, building customer rapport and/or training.
    • Conducting post-installation and sign off meetings with the customer for final invoice and project closure.
  • Effectively lead projects to ensure they are delivered within scope and agreed upon timelines, utilizing the defined level of manpower and established third party costs.   This includes:
    • Planning: Determine what needs to be done, who is going to do it, when it needs to be done and the deliverables. Key planning duties include defining and clarifying scope, development of the overall project plan including budget, task sequence, schedule, milestones, risk assessment, fiscal plan, quality assurance plan and policies & procedures that support the achievement of objectives.
    • Organizing: Set up the project team within the context of the existing organizational structure. Key organizing duties include defining the organizational structure of the project team including identifying roles, positions, and accountabilities within the team; identifying services to be outsourced; and staffing of project positions.
    • Leadership: Influencing, motivating, communicating, and resolving conflicts to execute the project plan to successfully achieve objectives. Key leadership duties include setting team direction, coordinating activities across organizational functions, holding team members accountable, and selecting team members.
    • Control: Keeping the project on track. Tracking/monitoring progress toward meeting objectives, maintaining budget, evaluating the cause of deviations from the plan, evaluating and correcting problems. Key controlling duties include defining project baselines, tracking progress, reporting status, and determining & taking corrective action when needed.
    • Post Project Evaluation:  Conducting post-project debriefs on all completed projects documenting financial results and project ‘things gone right’ and ‘things gone wrong’ for future project lessons learned and continuous process improvement.
    • Reporting:  Regularly providing reports on progress of project to all stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education/Experience  Bachelor of Science degree in Project Management or a related technical field, plus five (5) years of project management / engineering support in a technical or process related industry, preferably within the aluminum or foundry industries; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. 

Valid driver’s license required.  A Passport or the ability to obtain is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Communication Skills. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions. Proficiency in writing clearly and concisely and editing work for spelling and grammar. 
  • Leadership.   Ability to effectively manage cross functional team projects to completion according to budget and schedule. 
  • Time, Risk and Budget Management.  Proficient with Project Management Software and ability to implement methods to monitor time management, risk management and budget management aspects of large complex projects and ‘raise the flag’ when measures need attention by a multifunctional management team. 
  • Technical Skills.  Ability/knowledge to review specifications in review of customer quotes and customer order accuracy. Technical mindset and the ability to understand calculations and materials. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Project Management Skills.  Knowledge of principals of project management, including creation of vision and mission, establishing goals or objectives, establishing project teams, applying comprehensive root cause analysis, implementing intervention, ensuring organizational alignment, and measuring progress and success is preferred.  Excellent planning and relationship building skills.  Ability to liaise with middle and upper Pyrotek management and sales team for scope negotiation in a manner that upholds Pyrotek’s values and reflects positively on the department.
  • Core Business Skills. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information. Ability to work independently, without significant direction to organize, prioritize work and make appropriate decisions in scope of responsibility as well ability to use resources effectively to progress in core functions independently. Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy. Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills. 
  • Professional Investment. Demonstrated commitment to own personal professional development and learning. Demonstrated ability to grow technical/product knowledge.
  • Travel.  Ability to travel by land and air, both domestically and globally up to 50%. Current US Passport or ability to obtain. Ability to maintain motor vehicle driving record in good standing, as defined by Pyrotek’s driving record requirements.

Physical/Sensory Requirements
Must be able to sit for long periods-of-time, bend and reach, use stairs, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use a personal computer, office equipment and telephone.

Working Environment
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, team member works within an office and the manufacturing environment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required within the manufacturing environment. While in the manufacturing environment team member is regularly exposed to noise, heat and cold environmental conditions.  Travel by land and air, both domestically and globally up to 50%.
