Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Our beautiful, downtown Corporate Headquarters is searching for a Tax Accountant to assist with the collection, analysis, and organization of tax-related information utilized in the preparation of various tax filings at the federal, state, county, and local levels.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Assist with the accurate and timely performance of the following activities:
    • Preparation of federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions.
    • Preparation of LIFO workpapers.
    • Preparation of various year-end workpapers to support the Audited Financial Statements.
    • Preparation of workpapers to support our consolidated Federal corporate income tax return.
    • Preparation of workpapers to support our State and Local Income and Franchise returns, annual reports, and secretary of state filings.
    • Research federal and state tax issues to facilitate accurate compliance.
    • Maintenance of FAS fixed asset database and reporting.
    • Preparation of property tax and unclaimed property returns.
    • Preparation of census and other governmental survey reports.

Qualifications

Education/Experience  Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.  Experience with tax accounting a plus. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Accounting.  Proven knowledge of accounting, tax, and ability to research, and analyze data skills required, financial reporting experience a plus.

Core Business Skills.  Attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality surrounding financial and other proprietary information required, as are prioritization and time management skills.  Ability to work independently, effectively use resources including common sense to complete projects accurately and timely.

Core People Skills. Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.

Communication Skills.  Ability to speak clearly, persuasively, and concisely in positive or challenging situations.  Ability to listen, request clarification, and respond well to questions.  Clear, concise writing skills needed to document and edit work performed.  Ability to vary writing style to meet business needs a plus.

Computer/Application Skills.  Computer skills using a variety of software application, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Experience using consolidation software, ERP systems, business analytic tools, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams a plus.

Professional Investment.  Demonstrated commitment to own personal professional development and learning, including but not limited to a CPA certification.
