General Plant Operator - 12 Hour Rotating Schedule

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

12 Hour Rotating Shift 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am (Days/Nights) 

* Pay from $18 - $25 + 7% shift differential 

The General Plant Operator performs required tasks involving the operation of the graphite finishing saw and/or the operation of the GTP capsule loading equipment. Assist regular operators in the performance of their operations when required.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

1. Effectively operate finishing saw to ensure accurate cutting, inspection and boxing of graphite tubes and rods.
2. Effectively operate the GTP capsule loading equipment, including cardboard and plastic product assembly and capsule inspection and cleaning.
3. Perform general manual labor tasks, requiring the use of hand and machine tools.
4. Safely move raw materials and finished products, as needed using fork trucks, hoists, and slings.
5. Accurately label materials used in the department.
6. Maintains and keeps work area neat and orderly.
7. Available for general clean-up duties, as needed.
8. Promptly reports all maintenance or safety needs.
9. Accurately completes all documents as required.
10. Assist regular operators, as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience  High school diploma or GED equivalency.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Core People Skills.  Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people at all levels of the organization.  Ability to apply a large measure of common sense to a variety of situations.
• General Skills.  Ability to use a variety of hand and machine tools, such as a razor knife, staple gun, pneumatic drill, chipping hammer, hand saw, etc.  Ability to handle material manually with hoist, slings, fork trucks, etc. 
• Communication Skills.  Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions.  Proficiency in writing clearly and concisely and editing work for spelling and grammar.  
• Core Business Skills.  Ability to work independently, without significant direction and to use resources effectively to “figure it out”.  Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy.  Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills.

Must be able to bend and reach, lift up to 65 pounds occasionally and communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing.

Working Environment
Work in a manufacturing plant environment with moderate background noise, presence of natural and artificial light, exposure to work temperatures from ambient to controlled, hard working surfaces for standing and walking, and moderate amounts of airborne graphite dust.  Personal Protective Equipment is required.
