Essential Duties and Responsibilities

First Shift Hours:  Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:20 pm

* Wage $18 - $25 (DOE)

The BPF Operator performs set up and operates standard production equipment to process raw materials into specified Filter Media products.  May assist technical and engineering personnel in the processing and fabrication of experimental products.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently set up and operate standard production equipment to include:

  1. Operating production equipment such as furnaces, ovens, mixers, vibrators, and saws.
  2. Accurately calculating batch weights and production mixes as required.
  3. Effectively reading a tape measure and measure/shim mold as required.
  4. Assembling and disassembling molds and equipment.
  5. Performing daily checks of equipment and modifying, repairing, and/or performing maintenance to equipment as needed.
  6. Safely perform general manual labor tasks requiring the use of hand and machine tools.
  7. Assist in fabricating & process production of bonded particle filter media and associated tooling according to established procedures.
  8. Always maintain a neat and orderly work area.  
  9. Promptly report all maintenance and/or safety needs to the appropriate party in a timely manner.
  10. Accurately and legibly complete all documents as required.
  11. Accurately interpret process control instruments such as temperature recording/controllers, flow meters, micrometers, vernier calipers, etc.
  12. Actively and positively support all ISO systems and personnel, following all ISO procedures and initiatives, with the goal being continuous improvement.   
  13. Assist in training new team members when necessary.

Qualifications

Education/Experience  High school diploma or GED equivalency.  Industrial or related experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Job Specific Skills.  Ability to safely and effectively use a variety of hand and machine tools and equipment, such as a razor knife, bandsaw, commercial mixers, vibrators, electric drill, chipping hammer, etc.  Ability to handle material manually with hoist, slings, fork trucks, etc. Ability to be certified and operate a forklift proficiently and safely.  Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Must be able to stand for long periods-of-time.  Must be able to bend and reach, lift up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 65 pounds occasionally and communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing.   

Working Environment
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, team member generally will work in a manufacturing environment. While in manufacturing areas, the team member may also be exposed to moderate background noise, moderate amounts of airborne graphite and sand dust, presence of natural and artificial light, exposure to work temperatures from ambient to controlled, hard surfaces for standing and walking. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
