Essential Duties and Responsibilities

12 Hour Rotating Shift 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am (Days/Nights) 

* Pay from $18 - $25 + 3% shift differential

The Manufacturing Bake Operator operates electric bake furnaces along with all related loading and unloading of equipment and products.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Safety and efficiently operate bake oven furnaces to include:

  1. Starting and monitoring operating furnaces for items such as flame rods, exhaust gates, cool down vents, etc.
  2. Properly loading and unloading bake furnaces.
  3. Properly loading and unloading materials from furnace saggers.
  4. Operating all related equipment such as sand system, dumper, blender, etc.
  5. Handling materials manually or with hoist, fork trucks, etc.
  6. Ensuring quality control by inspecting all material as it is unloaded from the furnaces.
  7. Properly marking material and racks per documented procedures.
  8. Effectively use a variety of hand and machine tools, including drills, hammer, sanders, blenders, mixers, etc.

Qualifications

Education/Experience  High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.  A minimum of one year of basic high school math.

One year of manufacturing or related experience, preferably at Pyrotek.

  • Core Business Skills. Ability to work independently, without significant direction, as well as collaboratively, and to use resources effectively to “figure it out”.  Strong critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail and accuracy.  Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret information such as safety rules, work standards, work instructions.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Job Specific Skills.  Ability to safety and effectively utilize hand tools or equipment, including drills, hammer, sanders, blenders, mixers, etc. Ability to be certified and operate a forklift proficiently and safely.  Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations including adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division.

Must be able to stand for long periods-of-time, bend and reach, lift up to 50 frequently, up to to 65 pounds occasionally and communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use a personal computer, office equipment and telephone.   

Working Environment
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, team member generally will work in a manufacturing environment. While in manufacturing areas, the team member may also be exposed to moderate background noise, moderate amounts of airborne graphite and sand dust, presence of natural and artificial light, exposure to work temperatures from ambient to controlled, hard surfaces for standing and walking. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
