Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Second Shift:  Monday - Friday, 3:15pm-11:45pm

Summary:  Responsible for the processing of mesh fabric material into semi-finished and finished product via various slitting, cutting and stapling techniques. Follows priorities and sequences in producing product to meet Glasweve Filter customer requirements. Responsible for accurate recording on work orders of material used and hourly tracking. Notifies supervisor immediately regarding any barrier in meeting production requirements.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  7. Promptly notification of supervisor of any problems or malfunctions of machine and/or barriers in meeting output requirements.
  8. Proficiently operation various cutting and molding mechanisms.
  9. Accurately utilize assigned tooling to complete each job.
  10. Accurately read work order instructions and carry out operations as required.
  11. Accurate and efficiently setup each job based on work order instructions and job prints.
  12. Perform basic Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks.
  13. Accurately complete all quality checks and immediately notify supervisor of any out of tolerance readings.
  14. Timely completion of hourly production tracking boards.
  15. Continuously keep work area, including machines and floor clean at all time.
  16. Safely operate forklift to remove scrap hoppers, make sure material for each job is on schedule and in the proper location, as trained.
  17. Continuously identifying areas for process improvement, cost and waste reduction.
  18. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Slitter – Slitting to Width

  1. Scan bar code(s) on Work Order.
  2. Read Work Order for product specifications such as run quantities, configuration of components and raw material section.
  3. Select appropriate raw material - roll(s).
  4. Place roll on slitter with the help of another.
  5. Set up slitter by positioning blades in the proper sequence and spacing.
  6. Initiate slitting process.
  7. Attach slit ends to new cardboard tube in rewinder.
  8. Runs machine to slit and rewind material.
  9. Cuts full tube to length.
  10. Removes slit width rolls and places in queue for cutting to length or packages as finished product.
  11. Complete Work Order traveler with amount of material used, number of parts produced, rejected material and end job using bar code scanner.

Klicker/Guillotine Cutter – Cutting to Length

  1. Scan bar code(s) on Work Order.
  2. Read Work Order for product specifications such as run quantities, configuration of components and raw material.
  3. Set up machine by selecting required parameters.
  4. Select appropriate carton size and quantity for finished product and attach pre-print labels.
  5. Seal cartons and stack on pallet.
  6. Complete Work Order traveler with amount of material used, number of parts produced, rejected material and end job using bar code scanner.

Mold Press – Molding to Shape

  1. Scan bar code(s) on Work Order.
  2. Read Work Order for product specifications such as run quantities, configuration of components and raw material.
  3. Load material into Mold Press, unload finished product when automatic press opens.
  4. Trim, stack and pack cups.
  5. Complete Work Order traveler with amount of material used, number of parts produced, rejected material and end job using bar code scanner.

Assembly – Miscellaneous Filters

  1. Scan bar code(s) on Work Order.
  2. Read Work Order for product specifications such as run quantities, configuration of components and raw material.
  3. Assemblies may be rolled, folded or consist of multiple components.
  4. Staple components using a foot activated electric powered industrial stapler or modify using a band saw, drill press or table saw.
  5. Complete Work Order traveler with amount of material used, number of parts produced, rejected material and end job using bar code scanner.

While performing the functions of this position, the employee is continuously required to talk or hear; regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, bend and reach, use hands and fingers and handle or feel. Frequently lift material weighing from 10 to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift maneuver/handle material weighing from 50 to 100 pounds. Communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use personal computer and basic calculator. Specific vision abilities required both up close and distant sight abilities.

Working Environment

While performing the essential responsibilities of this positon, employee works solely within the manufacturing environment where Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required. Employee is regularly exposed to noise, heat and cold environmental conditions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) / Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) highly desired or equivalent combination of education and life experiences. Preferred one (1) year manufacturing/machine operation experience or training.
