Floor Tiles

Overview

Floor tiles are inlaid at strategic locations for added strength against thermal, mechanical and chemical attack. They are often used where aluminium commonly spills on the floor such as in front of furnaces or where filter bowls and degassing machines dump the remaining aluminium or where heavy loads and vehicle traffic are an issue.

Pyrotek Offerings

Floor tiles must withstand heavy loads caused by mobile equipment with rubber tires and tracks as well as withstand 850°C (1562°F) liquid metal spills, which completely cover the tile and resist damage from thermiting aluminium dross. Floor tiles must also be resistant to impact from dross pans weighing 2000 kilograms (4400 pounds) and exhibit excellent abrasion resistance to prevent excessive wear from vehicle traffic. Pyrotek offers Ceramite® floor tiles that are very durable. Some tiles have been in service for 30 years and their lifetime commonly reaches seven years or more; this lifetime outlasts steel, concrete or other refractories that may only last six months.
