Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:00 pm
Responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations and machining parameters. Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches. Determination of calculating requirements to include basic math, geometry, trigonometry, and proving parts. G-code and/or conversational programming required.
- Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three to four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops and stock pushers, and indicating vices and trimming heads.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls. Ensure sharpening and replacement of worn tool. Consistently adhere to all quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs. Document actions by completing production and quality logs.

Qualifications
Education/Experience: Associate Degree in Machining Technology or related field, plus three years of experience as a CNC Machinist; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Communications Skills. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen, obtain clarification, and respond well to questions.
Computer/Application Skills. Proficient CNC machining skills (programming, tooling knowledge, and ability to read blueprints.) Ability to use and interpret dimensional measuring tools or equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude. Proficient with math skills, especially geometric calculations. Ability to identify and implement improvements.
Technical Skills. Strong knowledge of FANUC controls. Mill and lathe HAAS machining is a plus. Ability to set up machines from scratch, touch off all tools, and write basic programs on CNC machine controller. Knowledge and ability to figure proper feeds and speeds of tooling for best life utilization. Knowledge of a wide variety of materials, hardness, and grades. Working knowledge of over-head crane, hoist, and lift tables. Ability to effectively use precise measuring tools such as mics, calipers, height gage, thread gage, bore gage, plug gage, and/or CMM is a plus.

Be available for overtime as per business needs and timelines.
Physical/Sensory Requirements:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently. Must be able to communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use a personal computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment:
Works in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where team member is frequently exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.
