Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Pyrotek's Assembly Supervisor will supervise, direct and coordinate activities of the  production department in manufacturing products by overseeing and following standard operating procedures.  Plan and oversee production to meet business orders and goals. Oversee the production and assembly of manufactured parts, pipe lining and cements while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach support, train and develop personnel in assigned area; resolve personnel issues, redirecting complex issues to management and HR in a timely manner; directly manage team members, including assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance/compensation, resolving grievances, administering disciplinary action, interviewing employment candidates, and effectively recommending hires and terminations in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage production in assigned area by:
    • Evaluating and assigning duties as needed for conformance to standards of performance on Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
    • Reviewing, correcting and approving team member time sheets on electronic system time keeping system.
    • Providing clear communication among staff during work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs between shifts. Document actions by accurately completing necessary production records and reports.
    • Maintaining specified scrap objectives and inventory of assigned supply items.
    • Providing assistance to the Process Engineering Group in product/process development.
    • Reviewing production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to verify materials and plan department operations.
    • Assessing, developing and/or revising standard operation and working practices, observing workers to ensure compliance with standards and recognize opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Preparing operation schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities with Production Control and Manufacturing Supervisors to ensure and establish production priorities and quality of products meets specifications.
    • Reviewing production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
    • Inspecting equipment to ensure specific operation performance and optimum utilization and coordinating maintenance of process equipment with the Maintenance Department.
  • Review, and quote vendors to ascertain opportunities for cost savings as needed.
  • Serve as a role model in areas such as professionalism, service orientation, agent of change, education, and commitment to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Create a work environment that helps foster tolerance, acceptance and civility and the ability and desire of team members to act in empowered ways.  Actively reward / recognize team members to reinforce accomplishments and positive outcomes.
  • Determine the effectiveness of policies, procedures and projects/plans.  Take appropriate corrective measures when necessary. Identify new applications, innovations, quality and/or safety improvements and report findings/results to management. Ensure all activities and operations are performed in compliance with federal/national, state/regional and local regulations.   
  • Support compliance to ISO processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Experience  Associates Degree in Business or technical field, plus three (3) years supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Computer/Application Skills.   Proficient with Microsoft Office suite specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.   Experience with ERP preferably with CITRIX Visual software.
  • Analytical Skills.  Strong financial analytical capabilities for developing profitable product strategies. Ability to define problems, collect objective data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Technical Skills.  Ability to use and interpret dimensional measuring tools or equipment.  Strong mechanical aptitude.  Proficient with math skills, especially geometric calculations.  Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement objectives.  Understanding of basic welding techniques.
  • Core Business Skills.  Displays willingness to make decisions and work independently, without significant direction and to use resources effectively to “figure it out”. Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy. Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills. Highly organized, detail oriented and self-disciplined. Ability to work under pressure and excel in a fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.  Must be able to communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing and effectively use a personal computer.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, team member will work in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to temperature variations within the plant environment based on seasons, moving mechanical parts, light to moderate amount of fumes and/or airborne particles, including graphite dust, and moderate background noise.
