Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shift:  Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Our Warehouse Associate will be responsible for materials movement, order processing, picking, packaging/crating, shipping, receiving, and loading/unloading of trucks.  Back-up for our Inventory Delivery Driver, on occasion.

  1. Following standard operational procedures, efficiently perform general warehouse functions including:
    a.       Shipping and receiving of all products, materials, and supplies.
    b.       Material handling, including promptly loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand, power hoist, or forklift from work orders or pager requests.
    c.       Ensuring accurate per periodic cycle counts.
    d.       Maintaining number units of materials moved or handled using bar code scanner.  Identifying and  communicating discrepancies to supervisor promptly upon discovery.
    e.       Packaging and crating, including ensuring proper storage of inventory items, attaching identifying tags or labels to material, or marking information on boxes, crates or other containers as needed.
    f.        Day-to-day warehouse tasks as necessary to meet business need to include:
               i.            Filling requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other stock items and distributing items to production departments. 
              ii.            Marking materials with identifying information, using stencil, crayon, or other marking device. 
              iii.            Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, floor locations or product code. 
    g.       Inputting inventory transactions in ERP system 
  2. Perform safe operation of forklift, stand-up forklift and wave.
  3. Ensure both internal and outside customer demands are met in a timely manner.
  4. Consistently ensure proper use of warehouse equipment and required PPE.
  5. Perform as backup for VMI delivery driver.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED.  Previous warehouse experience highly desired.  Valid driver’s license required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Core People Skills. Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to set effective priorities and adjust quickly and appropriately to changing demands and needs. Ability to apply a large measure of common sense to a variety of situations.

Communication Skills. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions. 

Computer/Applications Skills. Must have basic skills in MS OFFICE Word, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge and experience with shipping/receiving and inventory control modules within an ERP system highly desired.   Visual (ERP system) experience and skills a plus.

Warehouse/Material Handling.  Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) and ability to operate forklift safely and effectively (sit-down, standup, wave) for receiving/unloading of trucks. Ability to maintain motor vehicle driving record in good standing, as defined by Pyrotek’s driving record requirements.  Ability to effectively and safety use a pallet wrapper, nail gun and packing foam bagger.  

Core Business Skills. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information. Ability to work independently, without significant direction and to use resources effectively to “figure it out.”  Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy. Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills. Trained and certified in forklift operations.

Job requires moderate amount of time working at a PC and effective use of a personal computer, office equipment and telephone. Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Frequently required to stand or walk. Communicating effectively by telephone, in person and in writing is required.

Working Environment
Majority of time will be in a warehouse environment where PPE may be required. Periodic exposure to outdoor environment through open shipping doors. Minimal amount of outdoor work may be required loading/unloading flatbed trucks.
