Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Quality Process Coordinator supports the plant through the creation of work instructions and standard operating procedures that are maintained as controlled documents in the quality management system.  This position is responsible for obtaining, recording, reviewing and making suggestions to critical processes for continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

Computer/Applications Skills. Proficient computer skills using a variety of software applications systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Visio. Ability to navigate, understand, and work with Visual Manufacturing (ERP system) software, file folders, Vault, and other programs utilized on the job. 

Core Business Skills.  Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information. Trained and certified in forklift operations.  Ability to work under pressure and excel in a fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment.  Anticipates and adapts to changes in the work environment. Cost conscious and conserves organizational resources.  Ability to work with third party suppliers for items related to quality, including but not limited to equipment calibration and equipment services.   Familiar with lean, kaizen or process mapping.

Technical Skills.  Ability to understand production floor activities.  Comprehensive knowledge of Pyrotek products or be capable of becoming familiar.

Qualifications

Under direction from the Quality Supervisor, review and create procedures, work instructions and standard operating procedures by:

  • Gathering data and information on critical processes through interface with all departments.
  • Suggest improvements and opportunities to build quality into processes based on information gathered.
  • Ensure all procedures and operational activity are up to date and consistent with other active documents.
  • Identify and correct inaccuracies in documents.
  • Route and complete all document changes electronically through Information Change Request (ICR).
  • Complete documents using Pyrotek controlled document template and route to required managers for approval.

Maintain accurate and organized records to include:

  • Training records of all controlled documents
    i.      Ensure necessary training for team members is completed.
    ii.     Review training matrix regularly to identify areas that need to be completed or retrained as necessary, work with managers to keep log up to date.
    iii.      Record dates of training in the matrix.  Scan and file all signed acknowledgements.
  • Logs and other documentation concerning quality communications, trainings and single point lessons that comply with the quality management system.
  • Internal and external certifications-log as received.
    i.      Provide as needed directly to the shipping department and customers.
  • Calibration certifications and schedules.
    i.      Schedule calibration tools for pickup prior to expiration dates.
    ii.     Ensure calibration certificates adhere to current ISO standards.
  • Work effectively with other departments to support the standardization of the quality management system.
  • Support the return material authorization (RMA) process to assist the sales team to provide a quality customer service experience.
    1.     Utilize case review management (CRM) system to determine course of action document, ie., complaints, returns, replacements or inter branch transfers (IBT).
    ii.     Coordinate with Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, Shipping and Manufacturing to gather accurate information about the return as needed.
    iii.     Cross reference information in the ERP system for consignments prior to issuing material.   
  • Support and assist Quality Team goals and objectives.  Collaborate as a member of the shift leadership team to ensure Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery and Cost Control.
  • Promote positive team member and customer relations by supporting Pyrotek’s commitment to a working environment of tolerance, acceptance and civility.  Respond appropriately to inquiries, concerns and complaints by being professional, courteous and respectful at all times.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance, as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Actively and positively participate in problem resolution, demonstrating constructive communication, timely response and effective resolution skills. Work effectively within team environments both within your department and across the organization.
  • Cooperate and comply fully with all Pyrotek policies and procedures.  Actively support and follow the Pyrotek Safety Program.
  • Participate in company/department meetings, training activities, continuing education programs and other associated activities.
  • Consistently promote and communicate Pyrotek’s core values through work performance and excellent customer service.   
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk, hear, and see.  This position is moderately active and requires sitting, standing, walking, and bending.

Working Environment 
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position majority of time will be in a manufacturing environment.  Exposure to temperature variations within the plant environment based on seasons, moving mechanical parts, light to moderate amount of fumes and/or airborne particles, including graphite dust, and moderate background noise.  Requires Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
